Philodendron belongs to the Araceae family which consists of nearly 500 species. Extremely variegated form of trunk or creeping, with numerous leaf form and size. Commercially available varieties are relatively easy to breed even though they come from tropical regions of South America.
Avoid direct sunshine
Indirect light or semi-shade and room temperature is ideal. It develops well in a warm, humid, shady place, even though it can tolerate drier air. For philodendron varieties it is also true that the more colorful the leaves are, the more light they require, however, direct sunlight should be avoided. It does not like stagnant water, so leave the ground between two irrigation to dry out slightly.
Some of its varieties can be found on NASA’s list of air purifying plants that are capable of binding many carcinogenic substances, such as benzene, formaldehyde, trichlorethylene or toluene.
